Planting November’s Trees 🌳 Where, How Many & Why?

Amazing news, Blog Readers! WE have planted 128 trees this month 🌲🦧🌳🐘

We are thrilled to announce we have planted 128 trees with One Tree Planted from the proceeds of sales in November 2020. We are so proud & you should be too! It’s your incredible support each month that puts real trees in the ground around the world 🌍

This month we decided to plant trees in a new territory & we chose Indonesia as the destination for our donations. Here’s why...

Our collective donations this month are helping rebuild the habitat of critically endangered species like orangutans, tigers & over 1,700 species of birds across Indonesia. These projects in Asia are creating jobs & providing sustainable, long-term income for communities so people & forests can live together in harmony. 🐘🦧🦜

Indonesia is made up of over 17,000 islands, including Borneo & Sumatra, the third & sixth largest islands in the world!

Extensive mangroves, carbon-rich peat swamps & the third largest reserves of rainforests left on Earth are all found across this sprawling archipelago. 🌿

Recognised globally for its exceptional biodiversity, many rare & unique wildlife such as Sumatran tigers, elephants, orang-utans & over 1,700 species of birds are found here. Our donations will help to restore ecosystems in this biodiversity hotspot that has experienced profound degradation caused by rampant deforestation for palm oil plantations, damaging peat fires & extensive logging.

One Tree Planted’s incredible partners in Indonesia are working to ensure balance is restored to forest ecosystems & the local communities that depend on them. Efforts are focused on mobilising support from a coalition of local & international partners to develop nurseries & plant thousands of native trees. 🌳

By planting trees in Indonesia we contributed to creating vital habitat for orang-utans & endangered wildlife in Sumatra, restore tropical forests that sequester carbon & enhance ecosystem processes in Borneo & offer sustainable livelihood alternatives to farmers through regenerative agroforestry practices. And for that, we applaud you 👏🏻👏🏿👏🏽👏🏾

This means that including October’s 123 trees we have now planted 251 trees across the Amazon Rainforest & Indonesia. Next destination is either Africa or Europe. Let us know where you’d like to see us plant trees in December in the comments below or by emailing us at contact@ecogardenuk.co.uk 🌳🌲🌳

Have a great week everyone! And happy December 1st! 🎄

Love from Billy at Eco Garden
